Why brand identity and website belong in one hand
A brand that holds up on paper but waters down online: it happens in the handover between design and build. It can be different.
Many brands look sharp on paper and water down the moment they go online. The colours are just off, the typography falls apart, and the feeling is gone. That is almost always the handover: one party designs the brand, another builds the site.
Where it goes wrong
A brand book is a snapshot. Once someone else has to translate it into a living site, choices are lost: which spacing, which scale, how it moves. Every handover shaves something off, until the brand online is a weak echo of what it was on paper.
What can be different
If the same hand designs the brand and builds the site, there is no translation that can be lost. What is conceived is built; what is built is what was conceived. The brand lands online exactly as intended, down to the details a handover always misses.
The brand is often already in the room
A strong brand rarely starts from a blank canvas. It is already in the venue, the product, the way of working. Our job is to notice and capture it, and then carry it through consistently into the site. That is how you build a brand that holds up everywhere, not just in the brand book.
This is how we approach brand identity, in one hand with the website after.
